Dear Applicant
Strathclyde has worked with UKEAS since 1999 with the first intake of students in October 2000. UKEAS is our sole MBA partner in mainland China and both parties have entered into a legally binding contract. In the case of termination of, both parties will ensure that existing students have available a satisfactory means of completing their course of studies in Shanghai even if this entails a run-out period of partnership.
The Strathclyde MBA programme in UAE is aimed at individuals who are mature, with considerable work experience, and who expect upwardly mobile careers. While experience is often in a management function, this is not a requirement for entry to the programme, since specialists (e.g. engineers, chemists, doctors, and lawyers) often wish to add managerial capability to their function or move into more general management roles. Although the minimum formal entry requirements for those with a first degree specifies 3 years experience, the target market is actually individuals in middle level positions who aspire to senior positions. They will generally be upwards of 27 years old with 5 or more year’s experience. In practice the mean age and experience for the Strathclyde MBA programme in Shanghai is 34 and nearly 8 years, respectively.
All applicants to the Strathclyde MBA programme in Shanghai go through the same process of application for Glasgow based programmes; the process monitors for each entry, the age and experience profile, the education standards attained, and interview records. The process is designed to ensure that entrants to the programme substantially exceed the Association of MBA’s Accreditation requirements.
SEVERAL ROUTES BUT ONLY ONE MBA DEGREE
The same degree parchment awarded to all graduates
Regardless of route taken
Strathclyde’s belief is that face-to-face delivery is essential in Shanghai to transfer the wisdom and experience of the instructor through social interaction and responsiveness; although some distance learning modules are offered for electives in Shanghai, we continue to add to the local offerings of electives. Typically 30+ electives are on offer each year at the Elective Summer School run in Glasgow, Scotland and students in Shanghai are invited to attend these classes.
The Strathclyde academics who conduct the intensive seminars are the same academics that teach on the UK MBA programmes. Local counsellors in Shanghai are sourced by UKEAS and approved by Strathclyde. The general requirement is that they must have relevant teaching experience in the subject area in which they will provide local counselling, and they should as a minimum, have a degree at master’s level.
The Strathclyde programme in Shanghai has:
• the same quality standards/content & degree as the full-time programme
• flexibility – completion of studies across routes and/or centres
e.g. ability to transfer to full time MBA
• AMBA Accreditation across all routes of delivery
• EQUIS Accreditation
• AACSB Accreditation
Less than 1% of business schools worldwide have gained the triple accreditation
Please do not hesitate to contact the University should you require any further information or clarification.
Yours sincerely
